Candidates must be comfortable managing high-acuity cardiac patients. Estimated patient ratios typically range from 1:1 to 2:2. Daily census includes patients recovering from cardiac surgery, structural repairs, and transplant procedures. Nurses will manage complex patient diagnoses, including low cardiac output syndrome, stroke, and acute respiratory failure. Unit support includes interdisciplinary teams from various specialties. Special equipment utilized includes ECMO devices, ventilators, and hemodynamic monitoring systems. Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced, critical care environment.
