Description:
Weekdays and some weekends required.
Rotating holidays.
Floating within units of equivalent or lower acuity is required.
Estimated patient ratios of 1:1.
Mandatory weekend shifts: 6 per 4-week schedule period, including Friday/Saturday for night shifts.
Skills required include IV starts, telemonitoring, ventilator management, Swanz catheter usage, conscious sedation, balloon pumps, and pulmonary artery line management.
Experience with emergency medications and interpretation of dysrhythmias is essential.
Comfort with management of patients requiring ECMO, VADs, and post-cardiac surgery is critical.
Additional competencies include blood product administration, phlebotomy, and care of patients with renal failure.
Suctioning, obtaining EKGs, and managing IVs is also necessary.
Knowledge of isolation precautions and infection prevention is expected.
Care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction and TAVR will be part of daily responsibilities.
Daily census is approximately 28.
The unit will also engage with interdisciplinary support teams.
