Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: CRRT trained Description: Registered Nurses need to be open to floating among units. This is a busy, high-acuity unit. Candidates need to be flexible with scheduling; self-scheduling is not an option. Every other weekend is required. Experience with EPIC is required. CRRT experience is preferred, but training will be provided. Successful placements typically have 3 or more years of experience. Previous travel experience and work in a busy hospital setting are preferred. The unit has approximately 8 to 13 beds with high acuity. Patient ratios are typically 1:2, with occasional 1:1. Experienced ICU RNs are required to titrate drips. Common diagnoses include heart and lung transplants, LVAD patients, and valve surgeries. The unit has a charge RN who also manages patients most of the time. There are nurse aids available on the unit. An intensivist model is used. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 and is assigned to the unit. Hardwire monitoring is in place. Shifts are scheduled based on unit needs. Weekend requirements include six weekend shifts every six weeks. Holiday shifts are also required. There is no call or standby requirement. RNs may be the first to float out based on competency. Teal scrubs are the required dress code. Orientation includes 2 to 3 shifts with preceptors. Common devices seen on the unit include LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP. Cancellation policy applies for shift assignments. Charting is done using EPIC.
