Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS Must-Have: CRRT trained Description: Registered Nurses are required to be open to floating to different units. This is a busy and large Level 1 Trauma unit. Candidates need to be flexible with scheduling as self-scheduling is not an option. Every other weekend is required. Experience with EPIC is required. CRRT experience is preferred, but training is available. Successful candidates typically have 3 or more years of experience, travel experience, and have worked in a high-acuity hospital setting. The unit has a total of 8 to 13 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2, with some occasions of 1:1. Experienced ICU RNs are required, and common diagnoses seen in this unit include heart and lung transplants, LVAD patients, and valve surgeries. RNs will need to titrate drips, including all vasoactive drips for cardiac patients. There is a charge nurse who often has patients assigned. The unit has a dedicated PCA on the floor. Clientists or intensivists are present in-house. Respiratory therapists are available in the ICU 24/7 and are assigned to the unit. Equipment managed by respiratory therapists includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, etc. The unit utilizes hardwire monitoring, with RNs responsible for reading strips. Shifts are scheduled based on unit needs. There is a requirement to work 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks. Nurses are also expected to work holidays as needed. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating requirements include being the first to float out depending on competency. The dress code is teal scrubs. Unit-specific orientation consists of 2 to 3 shifts with preceptors. The unit sees devices such as LVAD, CRRT/SLED, Impella, and IABP. Cancellation policy includes 4 shifts per 13-week assignment and 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.
