Description:
The position is for a registered nurse in the cardiovascular intensive care unit.
The unit has a total of 16 beds with patient ratios of either 2:1 or 1:1.
Occasionally, the ratio may be 3:1 depending on patient acuity.
RNs will be responsible for all nursing duties, as there are no unit secretaries or patient care technicians.
Equipment used includes ventilators, telemetry monitors, Baxter IV pumps, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy devices, and hypothermia machines.
Documentation is done through a specific electronic health record system.
The schedule requires a commitment to 36 hours per week with alternating weekends.
Nurses may float to various areas as needed.
Advanced skills such as intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella, and continuous renal replacement therapy are desirable.
Procedures performed on the unit include cardioversion, central line insertion, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis.
The dress code mandates specific scrub colors, and the use of hoodies or pullovers is not permitted.
