Schedule: 3x12 night shifts (weekdays and weekends); Patient ratio 1:2 based on acuity
Highlights:
- 10-bed Cardiovascular ICU specializing in cardiothoracic surgery patients including CABG, open valve replacements, thoracotomies, and carotid endarterectomies
- Direct admission of fresh open-heart patients from OR with comprehensive post-operative cardiac surgery care
- Advanced cardiac technologies including Impella monitoring, Swan-Ganz management, IABP, and CRRT
- 13-week contract with possible extension; blocked schedules considered
- Cerner EMR system with 24 hours of orientation provided
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more
Requirements:
- Active RN License (West Virginia or Compact state license accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications (AHA certification required)
- Must have ACT (Activated Clotting Time) experience
- Essential skills: Direct open-heart admissions from OR, cardiac surgery skills, pressure monitoring, Swan-Ganz management, Impella monitoring, and CRRT
- Experience with arterial line management, continuous IV sedation, ventilator management, and cardiac/vasoactive drip titration required
- Minimum 2 manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years
- Permanent address must be at least 75 miles from facility location
