Description

Job Opportunity – Cardiac Telemetry/Step-Down RN – North Carolina

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignments available. Patient ratios vary by acuity (1:4 for surgical step-down, 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients). Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week schedule period (flexible scheduling).

Highlights:

  • Comprehensive cardiac care including telemetry monitoring, post-cardiac surgery, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology procedures
  • Advanced cardiac skills including sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, and chest tube management
  • Diverse patient population with diagnoses including CHF, ACS, CAD, atrial fibrillation, and post-CABG/valve replacement procedures
  • Modern equipment and systems including Epic documentation, Pyxis medication management, and comprehensive interdisciplinary support
  • 24-hour unit orientation with structured onboarding process
  • Float requirements follow standard unit rotation (not first to float)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry or step-down experience required
  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
  • Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Strong skills in cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia management, sheath removal, pre/post cardiac cath care, cardiac drip management, chest tube care, and non-invasive airway management
  • Willingness to work storm team/hurricane team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as needed
  • Availability for manager interview required prior to offer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Arterial line management experience
  • Wound care and wound vac experience
  • Charge nurse experience
  • Epic charting system experience
