Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown – North Carolina

Location: Coastal North Carolina

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignments available. Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5-6 for lower acuity cardiac patients. Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling).
Highlights:
- Cardiac telemetry stepdown unit with 44 beds and average daily census of 41 patients
- Comprehensive cardiac patient population including post-operative CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, cardiac catheterizations, and electrophysiology procedures
- Advanced cardiac skills utilized: sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, chest tube management, and post-MI care
- Epic electronic medical record system with 24-hour unit orientation provided
- Float requirements follow unit rotation; not first to float
- Interdisciplinary support including respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and full ancillary services
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry or stepdown nursing experience required
- Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of cardiac experience
- Required clinical skills: cardiac telemetry monitoring, PCU/stepdown experience, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI and cardiac catheterization care, cardiac drip management and titration, chest tube management, non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP), and TR band application
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Willingness to serve on Storm/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Arterial line management experience
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- Charge nurse experience
- Epic charting system experience
