Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry Stepdown – North Carolina

Start Date: September 28, 2026

Location: Coastal North Carolina

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13-26 week assignments available. Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5-6 for lower acuity cardiac patients. Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling).

Highlights:

  • Cardiac telemetry stepdown unit with 44 beds and average daily census of 41 patients
  • Comprehensive cardiac patient population including post-operative CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, cardiac catheterizations, and electrophysiology procedures
  • Advanced cardiac skills utilized: sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip titration, chest tube management, and post-MI care
  • Epic electronic medical record system with 24-hour unit orientation provided
  • Float requirements follow unit rotation; not first to float
  • Interdisciplinary support including respiratory therapy, rapid response teams, pharmacy, physical therapy, and full ancillary services

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry or stepdown nursing experience required
  • Current RN license (North Carolina or Compact state)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has 24+ months of cardiac experience

  • Willingness to serve on Storm/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Arterial line management experience
  • Wound care and wound vac experience
  • Charge nurse experience
  • Epic charting system experience
