Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry – North Carolina

Start Date: October 5, 2026
Location: Coastal North Carolina
Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants
Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13–26 week assignment available. Weekend requirement is 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling). Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5–6 for lower acuity cardiac patients.

Highlights:

  • Comprehensive cardiac and vascular surgical stepdown unit caring for a diverse patient population including post-CABG, TAVR, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology patients
  • Work with advanced cardiac procedures including sheath management and removal, chest tube care, cardiac drip management with titration, and external CPAP/BIPAP
  • 24-hour orientation provided with Epic charting system and Pyxis medication management
  • Interdisciplinary support including rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and comprehensive ancillary services
  • Manage complex cardiac diagnoses such as atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, cardiomyopathy, and post-interventional cardiac patients
  • Opportunity to care for patients following specialized procedures including Watchman, mitral clip, and various vascular surgeries

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
  • Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
  • Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
  • Proficiency in cardiac telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
  • Experience with sheath removal, cardiac drip management (including titration), chest tubes, non-invasive airway management, and post-cardiac catheterization care
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience preferred
  • Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
  • Availability for interview within 72 hours of submission; manager interview required prior to offer
  • Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as required
