Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Cardiac Stepdown / Telemetry – North Carolina

Schedule: Night shift, 36 hours per week, 13–26 week assignment available. Weekend requirement is 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible scheduling). Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown, 1:5–6 for lower acuity cardiac patients.
Highlights:
- Comprehensive cardiac and vascular surgical stepdown unit caring for a diverse patient population including post-CABG, TAVR, cardiac catheterization, and electrophysiology patients
- Work with advanced cardiac procedures including sheath management and removal, chest tube care, cardiac drip management with titration, and external CPAP/BIPAP
- 24-hour orientation provided with Epic charting system and Pyxis medication management
- Interdisciplinary support including rapid response teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, and comprehensive ancillary services
- Manage complex cardiac diagnoses such as atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, cardiomyopathy, and post-interventional cardiac patients
- Opportunity to care for patients following specialized procedures including Watchman, mitral clip, and various vascular surgeries
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
- Travel nursing experience required unless candidate has more than 24 months of cardiac experience
- Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact state license accepted)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must successfully pass EKG testing prior to start date
- Proficiency in cardiac telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
- Experience with sheath removal, cardiac drip management (including titration), chest tubes, non-invasive airway management, and post-cardiac catheterization care
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience preferred
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Availability for interview within 72 hours of submission; manager interview required prior to offer
- Willingness to serve on Storm Team/Hurricane Team and report during catastrophic events or disasters as required
