    Job Title

    Registered Nurse – Cardiac Progressive Care / Telemetry

    Location

    Wausau, WI | Acute Care

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract (13 Weeks) | 36 Hours per Week | 12-Hour Day Shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Every Other Weekend and Every Other Holiday Required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with a typical 1:4 patient ratio
    • Manage a high-acuity, fast-paced patient population including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defibrillation, ablations, acute chest pain/MI, and med/surg overflow (e.g., DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure)
    • Administer and monitor vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin
    • Pass an EKG competency test during the first week of hire
    • Float to all inpatient units as needed
    • Document accurately using electronic health record systems
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Wisconsin RN License
    • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC)
    • Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience in a Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU setting
    • Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience
    • Demonstrated experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin drips (required to advance in the interview process)
    • Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience
    • At least one prior travel nursing assignment must be completed
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience with post-operative cardiac surgical patients (CABG, valve replacement, thoracotomy)
    • Ability to work independently, manage change effectively, and complete tasks efficiently in a high-turnover environment
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills suited for a collaborative unit culture
