Travel Nurse RN - Cardiac Stepdown in Salisbury, NC

Monitor and care for patients with diagnoses including unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, TIA, and low-risk chest pain; manage patients on non-rebreather masks with stable O2 saturation and chronic BIPAP use. Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a high-acuity, fast-paced cardiac and stroke stepdown unit with patient ratios of 1:5–6; must be comfortable managing up to 6 patients
• Care for pre- and post-procedure cardiac patients including pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, and interventional peripheral vascular procedures
• Manage and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone; administer and monitor IV therapy and telemetry
• Monitor and care for patients with diagnoses including unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, TIA, and low-risk chest pain; manage patients on non-rebreather masks with stable O2 saturation and chronic BIPAP use
• Participate in on-call rotation based on patient census and float to other units as required
• Document using Pyxis, Dimensions (EPIC), and communicate via SBAR; self-schedule within established unit guidelines and leadership oversight

Required Qualifications

• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a cardiac stepdown or similar high-acuity setting with comparable patient ratios and acuity
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
• Proficiency in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management, and PCI patient care
• Must be available every day during the first week for hospital orientation (36-hour orientation total)
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during the first week; all RTO must be pre-approved prior to assignment start
• Local candidates are welcome and eligible at the same posted rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers will be considered)
• Experience with high patient-turnover environments; this unit typically turns over 78–90 patients per week
• Familiarity with Dimensions (EPIC) electronic health records system
• Experience caring for patients on opti-flow or BIPAP in a surge or COVID-positive care environment
