    Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown / CVU

    Location

    Omaha, NE

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Days | Shifts: 0630–1900 and 1830–0700 | Every other weekend required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intermediate-level cardiac nursing care for patients including post-surgical, downgraded CVICU, CHF, A-fib RVR, CVA, cath lab, and thoracic program patients
    • Titrate drips including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, cardizem, and other blood pressure management medications
    • Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes remote tele techs with hardwired and tele box capabilities
    • Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, with 1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours
    • Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, and on-call cardiology to deliver comprehensive patient care
    • Float to units of the same or lower acuity level as needed
    Required Qualifications
    • Active RN licensure
    • Minimum 1 year of experience with cardiac stepdown or similar patient population
    • Current BLS certification
    • Current ACLS certification
    • Current NIHSS certification
    • Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a score of 90% or higher during orientation
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience supporting thoracic surgery, electrophysiology, cath lab, or structural heart programs
    • Familiarity with BiPAP and CPAP respiratory equipment troubleshooting
    • Experience in a unit with remote telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
