    Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown / CVU

    Location

    Omaha, NE

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract | Nights | Onsite | Shifts: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM or 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM (Night rotation); Every other weekend required

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide intermediate-level cardiac and vascular nursing care for patients including post-surgical, downgraded CVICU, CHF, A-fib RVR, CVA, and cath lab patients
    • Titrate drips including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, cardizem, and other blood pressure management medications
    • Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes hardwired tele and tele box capabilities with remote tele tech support
    • Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 (1:3 for post-surgical patients within the first 24 hours)
    • Support the thoracic program, electrophysiology, cath lab, and structural heart service lines
    • Float to units of same or lower acuity as needed
    Required Qualifications
    • Current RN licensure
    • Minimum 1 year of experience with cardiac stepdown or intermediate cardiac patient population
    • Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
    • Ability to titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips
    • Must successfully pass a unit orientation skills exam with a score of 90% or higher
    • Artificial nails are prohibited; compliance with facility fingernail policy is required
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Experience supporting thoracic surgery, EP procedures, or structural heart programs
    • Familiarity with BiPAP and CPAP respiratory equipment in a cardiac care setting
    • Prior experience reading and interpreting telemetry independently
