Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM) | 36 Guaranteed Hours Per Week | Every Other Weekend and Holiday Required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for cardiac stepdown patients including pre/post Cath Lab and EP Lab procedure recovery, PACU recovery, and cardiac surgery admissions
- Manage and titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Cardene, and Heparin; administer and monitor oral cardiac medications
- Perform and interpret telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKGs; monitor trending troponins
- Perform radial artery sheath removal, TR band management, arterial line management, and peripheral IV insertion
- Care for TAVR/LAAO recovery patients, antiarrhythmic patients, and cardiac observation patients in a 31-bed unit
- Float as needed to other cardiac, stepdown, or telemetry units; may precept students and new hires as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
- Active Indiana Single State RN License
- Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
- Current NIHSS certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac stepdown or cardiovascular specialty nursing
- At least one previously completed travel assignment required — no first-time travelers
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation and 12-lead EKG performance and interpretation (testing required)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records; CUPID experience highly preferred
- Prior experience with pre/post Cath Lab and EP procedures, PACU recovery, and cardiac surgery admissions
- Familiarity with TAVR and LAAO recovery patient populations
