- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week, approximately 36 hours weekly
- Shift Duration: 12-hour rotating shifts
- Shift Options: Day shift, approximately 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.; night shift, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Schedule Note: Day and night shifts may rotate according to operational needs
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360–$2,480
- Orientation: Facility orientation and required competency assessments are included
- Holiday Requirement: Travelers are expected to work at least every other holiday
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- At least 1 year of recent permanent experience in cardiac stepdown nursing or a closely related specialty
- Permanent Ohio nursing license or compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Active NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Recent professional reference from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or director within the specialty
- Successful completion of required background, drug screening, compliance, and clinical competency requirements
- Successful completion of ECG rhythm recognition and medication-safety assessments during orientation; up to two attempts are permitted
- Willingness to float to comparable cardiac or acute-care units, including emergency care areas, when needed
Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients in a cardiac and cardiothoracic stepdown setting
- Assess patients, recognize changes in condition, and promptly escalate clinical concerns
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, neurological status, and post-procedural recovery
- Administer medications and treatments while following established safety and infection-prevention practices
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, medications, and discharge needs
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record
- Support patient transitions between units and help maintain continuity of care when floating to comparable populations
- Participate in orientation, annual learning modules, competency validation, and unit-based quality initiatives
