Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or an active compact-state license in hand
• At least 1 year of recent permanent experience in Cardiac Stepdown, telemetry, cardiovascular nursing, or a closely related specialty
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Active National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Ability to provide one recent professional reference from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or director within the specialty
• Successful completion of ECG rhythm recognition and medication-safety assessments during orientation; up to two attempts are permitted
• Willingness to complete required onboarding, compliance, and annual education modules

Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring cardiac and cardiothoracic stepdown monitoring
• Assess patients, recognize changes in clinical condition, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and telemetry findings and communicate significant changes promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with established protocols
• Coordinate patient care with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, recovery, and discharge needs
• Float to comparable hospital units when needed to care for patients with similar cardiac and surgical needs
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold high standards of patient safety and quality patient care
