Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Spokane, WA
Join a high-acuity cardiac stepdown team in Spokane, Washington, as a travel Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week contract. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced PCU or stepdown RN who is confident caring for adult and geriatric patients, interpreting telemetry, and managing cardiac and vasoactive drips. Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110–$2,220
- Location: Spokane, Washington
- Healthcare Setting: Adult cardiac stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a short-term acute care, Level II trauma setting
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call: Not required
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3–4
- Charting System: Epic
- Unit Capacity: Approximately 42 beds
Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice in Washington; compact license must be active and in hand when applicable
- At least 1 year of recent PCU, cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
- Demonstrated experience managing and titrating cardiac and vasoactive medication drips; this is an essential requirement
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Recent Epic electronic health record charting experience
- Strong cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation skills
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Ability to float to telemetry or medical-surgical units when staffing needs require
- Willingness to work every other weekend and participate in required holiday coverage
Cardiac Stepdown Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a cardiac stepdown and PCU environment
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognize clinical deterioration, and initiate appropriate nursing interventions
- Manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive medication infusions according to protocol
- Care for patients with congestive heart failure (CHF), atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, chest pain, suspected myocardial infarction, and post-cardiac catheterization needs
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac catheterization, angiography, and cardiac surgery patients
- Manage central lines, PICCs, chest tubes, temporary or permanent pacemakers, arterial blood gas monitoring, and other complex cardiac care equipment
- Administer blood products, manage insulin and heparin protocols, and provide wound, drain, tracheostomy, and non-invasive airway care as indicated
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rapid response teams, rehabilitation services, and other interdisciplinary healthcare partners
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
- Float to telemetry or medical-surgical assignments when unit staffing levels require additional flexibility
