Travel RN Job Details

• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts
• Shift: Days, 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Travel Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or a valid Compact RN license
• At least 2 years of Intermediate Care (IMC) or cardiac stepdown nursing experience
• Previous vascular, kidney, liver, or other transplant nursing experience is required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Current NIHSS certification
• Strong experience with Epic electronic health records
• Demonstrated knowledge of transplant medications, immunosuppressive therapy, anticoagulation, and post-operative care
• Ability to recognize and respond to complications such as infection, rejection, graft dysfunction, thrombosis, bleeding, and medication toxicity
• Comfort caring for patients with complex vascular and transplant diagnoses in an acute hospital environment
• Willingness to meet applicable clinical, occupational health, and compliance requirements

Cardiac Stepdown and Transplant RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to post-operative vascular, kidney, and liver transplant patients
• Perform focused hemodynamic, neurovascular, physical, and psychosocial assessments
• Monitor surgical sites for bleeding or infection and evaluate graft function
• Track vital signs, weight, fluid balance, urine output, laboratory results, electrolytes, and other indicators of patient status
• Administer medications and therapies including pain control, immunosuppressants, anticoagulants, and IV treatments
• Recognize changes in condition and promptly escalate concerns related to rejection, infection, thrombosis, graft dysfunction, or other complications
• Interpret diagnostic and laboratory data and collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families on medication adherence, self-administration, post-operative care, lifestyle adjustments, and long-term transplant health maintenance
• Coordinate post-transplant care while maintaining patient confidentiality and adherence to universal precautions
• Float within the nurse’s skill set when needed and contribute to a collaborative, patient-centered care environment
