Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure eligible for practice in North Carolina
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination within 24 hours of offer
• Strong cardiac assessment, telemetry interpretation, and clinical prioritization skills
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate care during 12-hour overnight shifts

Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a cardiac stepdown, telemetry, and intermediate care setting
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely while evaluating patient response
• Perform focused and head-to-toe assessments, develop individualized care plans, and document care accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and fellow nurses to coordinate patient care
• Provide patient and family education related to diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge planning
• Maintain a safe, supportive environment and uphold professional nursing standards
