Contract | Days | 4x10-hour shifts, 7:30 AM–6:00 PM, plus on-call requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with a full range of cardiac cath lab procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
- Provide scrub and circulating roles utilizing sterile technique in a high-volume, multi-room cath lab environment
- Monitor and interpret EKGs, dysrhythmias, and hemodynamic data; execute rapid response protocols as needed
- Operate and manage advanced equipment including IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
- Fulfill on-call obligations: expected 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts per 6-week period, including one full weekend of call (Friday–Sunday) and one Saturday elective shift; must be able to return to the facility within 30 minutes when called
- Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health records
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license; Virginia will grant emergency authorization for travelers while a permanent VA license is processing
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible for this position
- Proficiency in cardiac cath lab procedures, sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Experience in diagnostic and interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy
- Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are considered local and are not eligible; candidates 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with advanced procedures such as TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, CardioMEMS, thrombectomy, mitral clips, and renal denervation
- Familiarity with isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management in a cath lab setting
- Experience in a high-volume, Level I Trauma or academic/teaching hospital environment
- Prior experience with research protocols in a cardiovascular setting
