Description:
The Cath Lab RN will perform in a fast-paced environment.
Average daily census is 4 procedures per lab with 16 visits per day.
Patient ratios are 1:4 during days and 1:3 during nights.
First-timers are accepted.
Weekend requirements are not applicable.
The RN will be expected to float between departments as needed.
On-call requirements include weekends.
Locals are accepted with a 75-mile radius rule.
Pending licenses are not accepted.
RTO restrictions cannot exceed 7 days.
Skills required include:
- Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath lab skills
- Cardiac Stent Placement and Diagnostic Catheterizations
- IABP Placement/Removal and Impella insertion
- Skills in various interventional catheterizations
- Knowledge of pharmacological stress tests
- Proficiency in pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- Experience in right heart and left heart catheterization
- Competence in percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
- Familiarity with several emergency medications and IV vasopressors
- Ability to assist with central line insertion and management
- Expertise in blood product administration and implanted port maintenance
- Skills in activated clotting time (ACT) monitoring
- Competence in procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions
The unit has interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, interpretation services, and rapid response teams.
Patient age groups served include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
The environment is conducive to performing complex procedures such as TAVR, Watchman procedure, and various catheterizations and interventions.
Candidates must adhere to compliance deadlines for necessary documentation and module completion prior to starting.
