The nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. The role includes using the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Nurses will address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Responsibilities include administering medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness, and documenting patient history and care provided.
