Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: ARRT, BLS Certification Must-Have: 1+ year experience with cardiac cases. Interventional radiology experience preferred. Description: Unit has 3 Cath Lab rooms and 1 Hybrid OR. Average cases per day range from 13 to 26. Common diagnoses include STEMI, NSTEMI, CAD, PAD, PVD, CHF, heart blocks, and cancer. Procedures performed include cardiac, peripheral vascular, interventional radiology, and pacemaker insertions. Responsibilities include controlling the C-arm during procedures, assisting physicians, and patient preparation. EMR systems used are Merge and Cerner for hemodynamic monitoring. X-ray machines utilized are from Philips. On-call coverage is 24/7 with call hours typically from 5:30 PM until 7:00 AM on weekdays and around the clock on weekends. Management is available normally from 6:30 AM until 5:00 PM. Shift schedule typically consists of 4 ten-hour shifts. Call requirement is usually 1 night shift per week and 1 weekend call per 4-week period. Holiday call is distributed equally among staff. Call response time is expected to be 30 minutes. No floating requirements apply to this position. OR scrubs are provided. Orientation includes 1-2 days of general orientation and 2 days of unit-specific training. The hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. The charting system in use is Cerner. BSN is not required. This position is in an acute care setting. Trauma level and care setting are part of the division.
