Shift: 8hr Day Shift - 40 Shift Information: 7am - 3pm (Monday - Friday) Clinical Interviewing- No - Manager Interview On Call, Call Back Requirements: No Weekend Rotation: None Holiday Requirements: Closed on major holidays Floating Requirements: Possibility to float to EP and procedural areas (manager will discuss this upon interview)

  • Level III Trauma Center
  • Stroke Center of Excellence
  • Bariatric Center of Excellence
  • Chest Pain Center
  • Radius Rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information: Beds: 12 beds combined; see 17-20 patients a day (usually same nurse before and after procedure for continuity of care)

Minimum Years of Experience required: MUST have a miniumum of 2 years of Critical care, PACU, or CCU experience. Minimum 2 years

Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
  • R and L Heart Cath, structural hearts, TAVR's, Watchman, Vascular procedures, EP devices and ablations, possible Carotid access procedures
  • Patients likely receiving moderate sedation so will be more awake and alert than PACU
Patient Ratios: RN: 1: 3 (depends on the type of patient. Example: TAVR's lielky only 2)

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
  • BLS, ACLS
Skills required:
  • neurovascular checks that may include Dopplers, comfortable with gtts (rarely pressors, nitro and heparin most commonly seen), site management (access fem or radial); TR band or groin device compression experience, rarely do they pull sheaths (not required)
  • Post Anesthesia experience, a little BP management (if pressors started likely short term care until transferred to appropriate floor)
  • See occasional swan, temp pacing wires, or A line (exp. Preferred but not required)
  • No vents, Rarely see BiPaps
  • Will have EKG, glucometer, and iSTAT checkoffs during orientation
Support within the Department:
  • CNA: 1 at a time
  • Receptionist/HUC: No
  • Charge nurse: Yes, occasionally takes patients but no set assignment (assist with cardioversions)
  • RT 24/7: Yes, RT available with a call and anesthesia in the department routinely
  • Hospitalist 24/7: APP's and NP's (6:30am-7pm); MD's constantly on unit
  • Telemetry monitoring/tech: Patient's have bedside monitor as well as nurses station
Technology/Equipment:
  • EMR: EPIC
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Philips
Unit specific equipment: EKG. iSTAT, Glucometers

Floating: I Possibility to float to EP and procedural areas (manager will discuss this upon interview)
Orientation (facility and unit):
  • NEO
  • Usually 1-2 shifts of precepted shifts
Scheduling:
  • Weekend rotation: None
  • On call: No
  • Holiday Expectations: Closed on major holidays
  • RTO approval: All RTO approved my manager
  • Shift times: 7am-3pm (M-F 8hr shifts) preferred but variable as most do 10-hour shifts
  • Schedule cycle: 4-5 weeks at a time

  • Scrub Color: Scrubs provided (Green)
  • Parking: Free, designated parking for teammates
  • Unit Culture: Great culture and enjoy working with each other. Everyone works very well together and have had great feedback from travelers. Repeat travelers are very common.
