Hours: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks
Charting: EPIC
BSN: Not required
Trauma Level: 3
License: Required for submission; facility is willing to wait for license
Unit Details
- General Adult Unit: 14 beds
- Special Care: 8 beds
- Kids Unit: 14 beds
- Staffed as one combined unit
- RN will typically work with adults but may be assigned to the kids unit
- RN ratio: 1:6 or 1:7
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
Patient Population / Diagnoses
Behavioral Health patients, including:
- Schizophrenia
- Anxiety
- Bipolar disorder
- Depression
- Suicidal ideation
- Other behavioral health diagnoses
Required Experience / Skills
- Behavioral Health RN experience
- Strong de-escalation skills
- Good communication and ability to work with behavioral health patients
- Ability to manage 6–7 patients independently
- Comfortable handling admissions and discharges
- EPIC experience is helpful
- BLS – AHA required
Clinical Details
- No drip titration
- No telemetry
- No monitor technicians
- RN does not need to read cardiac strips
- Respiratory equipment: BiPAP, CPAP, O2
- Nurse aids available: approximately 1:14 when fully staffed
- RNs are expected to round every 2 hours and assist with rounding when short staffed
- No regular call/standby requirement, although overtime shifts may occasionally be placed on call
