Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Supervisor (Assistant Director of Nursing) with a strong Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) background to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight within an acute care hospital.

The ideal candidate will have extensive nursing leadership experience, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to mentor nursing staff while ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement programs to improve patient care and nursing performance.
  • Provide daily supervision and operational oversight of nursing staff.
  • Partner with Nurse Managers to monitor unit performance and patient outcomes.
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities and assist with corrective action plans.
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking medication errors and staff counseling.
  • Promote compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality initiatives.
  • Support staff education, mentoring, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes.
  • Monitor staffing, workflow, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional administrative and clinical duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of nursing experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or nursing leadership experience.
  • Strong Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Required Certifications & Licensure

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification through the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
  • BLS (AHA).
