Job Summary
Join our dedicated healthcare team in Cooperstown, New York, as a Registered Nurse on our Inpatient Obstetric Unit. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to expectant mothers, laboring patients, postpartum individuals, and newborns. You will play a crucial role in supporting families through the childbirth experience, from admission through discharge.
As an Obstetric RN, you will manage patient care during labor and delivery, monitor maternal and fetal well-being, assist with medical procedures, and provide essential postpartum and newborn care. This position requires a compassionate and skilled professional committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients.
- Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings and maternal vital signs.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum periods.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety.
- Perform newborn assessments, provide initial newborn care, and assist with breastfeeding support.
- Educate patients and their families on childbirth, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and provide critical care interventions as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Experience in an Obstetric Inpatient Unit: Not specified.
