Job Summary
Join the dedicated team at Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) Residential Program, a 60-bed men's substance use disorder rehabilitation facility located in rural Trumansburg, NY. This program provides comprehensive care in a supportive environment, focusing on recovery and rehabilitation for adult men.
As a Registered Nurse, you will be integral to the provision of direct patient care within a fast-paced, multi-faceted department. Your responsibilities will encompass the observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patients' physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs, ensuring a holistic approach to recovery.
This role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of care, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and upholding regulatory compliance to support the overall well-being and successful recovery journey of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to a designated group of patients within the residential rehabilitation program.
- Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, including vital signs, risk assessments, and withdrawal assessments (e.g., COWS), in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Administer and monitor prescribed treatment regimens and medications safely and accurately.
- Observe and report significant changes in patient behavior, condition, or response to treatment.
- Triage emergent medical issues and coordinate care effectively with nursing staff, PAs, NPs, the Medical Director, and external healthcare providers.
- Maintain secure control and accountability of all drugs and medications.
- Document all patient care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate formats and forms.
- Uphold and respect the cultural and religious practices of all patients.
- Ensure compliance with OASAS and Medicaid regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, direct care staff, counselors, clinical directors, department managers, and the Compliance Manager on Quality Assessment, Assurance, and Performance Improvement activities.
- Maintain 24-hour accountability for the quality of patient care.
- Perform other position-related duties as assigned to support patient care and program operations.
Required Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Ability to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of patient assessment, care planning, and medication administration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, addiction recovery, or behavioral health.
