Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Travel Registered Nurse to join our Pre-Operative Unit at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, Georgia. This vital role involves preparing patients for various surgical procedures, ensuring their safety and comfort through comprehensive assessments and education.
The Pre-Operative RN will be responsible for conducting thorough patient evaluations, administering pre-operative medications, and providing clear, concise instructions to patients and their families. This position requires a proactive approach to patient care, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced surgical environment.
This is a 16-week contract assignment, ideal for a travel nurse looking to contribute their expertise to a dynamic healthcare team in a supportive setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive pre-operative patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, and psychological status.
- Administer pre-operative medications as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
- Initiate and maintain intravenous access for fluid administration and medication delivery.
- Educate patients and their families on the surgical procedure, pre-operative instructions, and post-operative expectations.
- Review and verify patient consent forms and ensure all necessary documentation is complete.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient flow.
- Monitor vital signs and patient status, promptly identifying and reporting any changes or concerns.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all infection control policies and procedures.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic health record.
Required Qualifications
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia or a compact state.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in a Pre-Operative or similar surgical setting.
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility.

- Holiday Requirements: Must work two (2) major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and one (1) minor holiday (The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve) during the assignment.
