Requirements

  • No prior experience required
  • Associate's degree or higher from an ARRT-recognized institution or JRCNMT-accredited program required, or graduate of a military Nuclear Medicine Program
  • Bachelor's degree in nuclear medicine technology or related field preferred
  • Active license through the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy required if applicable
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Basic Dysrhythmia, Arrhythmia, or ECG course completion required
  • Certification by NMTCB or ARRT in nuclear medicine required
  • Strong understanding of nuclear medicine principles, radiopharmaceuticals, and imaging techniques
  • Proficiency operating gamma cameras and other nuclear medicine equipment
  • Commitment to radiation safety practices and regulatory compliance

Additional Information

  • Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by explaining processes and obtaining medical histories
  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed protocols, ensuring proper dosage and injection technique
  • Operate gamma cameras and specialized imaging equipment, following established protocols for image acquisition and processing
  • Analyze nuclear medicine images and collaborate with radiologists and physicians on diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols and maintain accurate records of radiation doses and work area monitoring
  • Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, radiopharmaceutical doses, imaging parameters, and image interpretations
  • Generate accurate reports for patient medical records
  • Participate in ongoing education, training programs, and staff orientation activities
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
