Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring a WA or compact license and 3+ years of NICU experience.

Details

  • Level III/IV NICU unit with 77 beds and an average census of 50
  • Cares for neonates ranging from <24 weeks to >34 weeks gestation
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Block scheduling available, including 3 or more consecutive shifts
  • Admits are typically handled by a dedicated Admit Nurse, not travelers
  • Rare floating required, potentially to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN, or Pediatrics/NBN (newborn care only)
  • Attends high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
  • Uses CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency ventilators, oscillators, and standard ventilators
  • Performs cardioversion/defibrillation and therapeutic cooling/warming blanket management
  • Manages PICC/central lines, feeding tubes, and syringe pumps
  • Administers blood and blood products
  • Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of submission
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience or 2 years of Level IV NICU experience required
  • Experience with neonates across all gestational age ranges, including <24-28 weeks
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central/implanted line care, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Experience with gastrointestinal feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube management
  • Experience administering medications and emergency medications in a neonatal setting
  • Must provide 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Full SSN and DOB required for submission

Additional Information

  • Provides direct care to critically ill neonates in a high-acuity NICU setting
  • Participates in high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgical cases
  • Must be open to floating to different campuses within the health system
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated
  • Previous Providence-affiliated perm employees must be separated from the health system for at least 3 months to qualify, and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
  • First-time travelers are not required to have prior travel experience for this role
