Description

American Traveler is hiring a NICU Registered Nurse with NICU II/III experience for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring EPIC EMR experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Level II/III/IV NICU setting caring for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and greater
• Patient diagnoses include HIE, RDS, sepsis, TEF, diaphragmatic hernia, myelomeningocele, ROP, and abdominal wall defects
• Performs specialized procedures including full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and Avastin administration/laser eye surgery
• Utilizes specialized equipment including Artic Sun, jet ventilator, HFOV, Draeger ventilator, HFNC, bubble CPAP, and multiple incubator/warmer systems
• Uses Pyxis/Omnicell for medication management and EPIC for documentation
• Night shift schedule with options for 4x12 hour shifts (1900-0730) with no call, or 3x12 hour shifts with a bi-weekly call requirement
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend unless needs change
• Floating required to other NICU units or facilities as needed based on census

Requirements

• Active RN license (SC or compact) required
• Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
• NICU II and III experience required
• Skills required include UAC/UVC management, arterial line management, central line care, IV vasopressor administration, and neonatal dosage calculations
• Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), oscillators, and nitric oxide (iNO) therapy
• Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and management of VP shunts preferred
• Previous travel experience required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care to a complex patient population including surgical, respiratory, and gastrointestinal cases
• Support developmental care, breastfeeding support, and patient/family teaching as part of daily responsibilities
• Manage neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, and neonatal sepsis cases
• Orientation occurs weekly with annual compliance training required
• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Travelers must maintain a distance greater than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible, with reduced eligibility distances for certain night shift specialties
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
