Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III NICU position requiring NICU III and PICU experience along with an active NJ or Compact license.

Details

  • Based in NICU III with floating to PICU, PEDS, and Mother/Baby units (newborn care only, not maternal care)
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00-08:00
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
  • Patient ratios vary based on acuity
  • Patient assignments given based on skill set
  • Uses EPIC charting system
  • Cares for neonates as young as 24-28 weeks gestation

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • NRP certification highly preferred
  • Minimum 1.5 years of experience required
  • Documented NICU III and PICU skills experience required in employment history
  • Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, and central/implanted line care
  • Experience with UAC and UVC catheter management
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and cardiovascular management skills
  • Experience with feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and NG/NJ tube placement and management
  • Isolation precautions and PPE competency
  • Experience administering IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
  • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome care experience
  • Ventilator management experience (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)

Additional Information

  • Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level III NICU float pool
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 designated holidays
  • Scrub requirement: navy pants with pediatric-themed top
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former RWJBH employees (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
