Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for a night shift position requiring NICU III and PICU skills experience and an active NJ or Compact license.

Details

  • Based in a Level III NICU with float responsibilities to PICU, PEDS, and Mother/Baby units (no maternal care required)
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 8:00 AM), 37.5 hours per week
  • Every other weekend (Sat/Sun) required
  • Patient assignments based on skill set with ratios varying by acuity
  • Charting system: EPIC
  • Cares for neonates including those under 24-28 weeks gestation
  • Performs ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • BLS and PALS certifications required; NRP highly preferred
  • Minimum 1.5 years of NICU experience required
  • Documented NICU III and PICU skills experience required in employment history
  • EPIC charting experience
  • Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central/implanted line care, UAC/UVC management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and neonatal abstinence syndrome care
  • Experience with feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube management
  • Experience administering IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within the NICU and float to other pediatric and neonatal units as needed
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 designated holidays
  • Scrub color requirement: navy pants with a pediatric-themed top
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former RWJBH employees (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
