Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification in hand.

Details

• Level III/IV NICU setting at a teaching hospital
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (19:00-7:00), 36s or 48s schedule
• 13 or 26 week assignment options with November start dates
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Required to work 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Epic EMR experience required
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending accepted, must be in hand by Wednesday before start date)
• BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand at time of consideration
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certification required (may be pending at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Level III NICU experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Skilled in neonatal-specific procedures including UAC/UVC line care, therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and ventilator management
• Experience with central/implanted line care, IV therapy, and neonatal dosage calculations
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to neonatal ICU patients including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support
• Responsibilities include assisting with lumbar punctures, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and IV vasopressor administration
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per contract, with no time off approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Any vacation plans between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine an appropriate start date
• Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have a 1-year separation before returning, subject to leadership approval
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
• Specialty-specific orientation modules are completed during onboarding
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
