Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience, Epic EMR proficiency, and an active SC or compact RN license.
Details
- Level III/IV NICU setting within a teaching hospital environment
- Neonatal patient population ranging from 22 weeks gestation and above, including diagnoses such as HIE, RDS, NEC, diaphragmatic hernia, myelomeningocele, TEF, duodenal atresia, drug exposure/withdrawal, sepsis, and ROP
- Specialized procedures include full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, surgical repair of non-cardiac anomalies, Avastin administration, and laser eye surgery
- Specialized equipment includes Arctic Sun, Blanketrol, Jet Ventilator, HFOV, Draeger Ventilator, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, Alaris pumps, Philips central monitoring, B Braun and Infinity feeding pumps, Atom and GE Dual Incubators, Draeger Caleos, radiant warmers, external shunts, and ostomy supplies
- Medication administration and drug management system: Pyxis/Omnicell
- EMR: Epic (minimum 1 year of experience required)
- Night shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) with no call, or 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30) with a minimum of one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly
- Every other weekend coverage required, subject to change based on unit needs
- Floating to other NICU units or facilities may be required based on census needs; staff will only float to units matching their documented competencies
Requirements
- Active RN license — SC or compact license required
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience required
- Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Proficiency in a broad range of NICU skills including UAC/UVC management, arterial line management, central line care and blood draw, neonatal dosage calculations, therapeutic hypothermia, high-frequency ventilation, tracheostomy care, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Experience with neonatal respiratory support including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, oscillators, ventilator management, and nitric oxide administration
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from all Prisma Health facilities to be eligible for this position
- Pre-assignment testing and online modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials, which are typically provided within 24 hours of contract signing
- Modules are completed prior to the assignment start date and are required annually; completion is tracked by the facility
- Orientation is held every Monday
- Travelers who have worked three consecutive 13-week contracts (39 weeks) with this health system must either convert to employee status or take a minimum six-month break before returning as a traveler
