Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a NICU position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience, Epic proficiency, and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

  • NICU setting within a hospital environment, caring for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and greater
  • Patient population includes complex diagnoses such as HIE, RDS, NEC, diaphragmatic hernia, myelomeningocele, TEF, duodenal atresia, drug exposure/withdrawal, hypoglycemia, sepsis, and ROP
  • Special procedures include full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy management, surgical anomaly repair (excluding cardiac), and Avastin administration and laser eye surgery
  • Specialized equipment includes Arctic Sun, Blanketrol, Jet Ventilator, HFOV, Draeger Ventilator, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, Alaris pumps, Philips central monitoring, B. Braun and Infinity feeding pumps, Atom and GE dual incubators, Draeger Caleos, radiant warmers, external shunts, and ostomy equipment
  • Epic EMR is used; minimum 1 year of Epic experience is required
  • Medication dispensing via Pyxis/Omnicell
  • Night shift schedule available as either 4x12-hour shifts (7p–7:30a) with no call, or 3x12-hour shifts (7p–7:30a) with a call requirement of at least one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly
  • Weekend coverage required every other weekend, subject to change based on unit needs
  • Floating to other NICU units or facilities may be required based on census needs; staff will only float to units for which competencies are documented

Requirements

  • Active SC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
  • Current certifications required: BLS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E.
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Strong skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, UAC/UVC management, central line care, and neonatal dosage calculations
  • Experience with respiratory support including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, high-frequency ventilation, oscillators, ventilator management, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling), chest tube management, and neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS)
  • NICU Level III experience required; Level IV experience preferred
  • Driver's license (DL) required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from all Prisma Health facilities to be eligible for this position
  • Pre-assignment testing and online modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials, prior to the assignment start date
  • Orientation is held every Monday
  • Two professional references are required for consideration
  • Social Security Number (SSN) is required for consideration
  • Teaching hospital experience is preferred
