Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a NICU II/III position requiring an SC or compact license and prior neonatal ICU experience.

Details

  • NICU unit caring for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above
  • Diagnoses include HIE, RDS, sepsis, congenital anomalies, drug exposure/withdrawal, and more
  • Performs special procedures such as full body cooling, chest tubes, surgical repair of anomalies, tracheostomy management, and laser eye surgery
  • Utilizes specialized equipment including Artic Sun, jet ventilators, HFOV, Draeger ventilators, incubators, and radiant warmers
  • Documentation via EPIC EMR
  • Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 1900-0730) with option for no call or 3x12s with call requirement of at least one 12-hour call shift bi-weekly
  • Weekend coverage required every other weekend unless needs change
  • Floating to other NICU units or facilities may be required based on census needs

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license required
  • BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
  • NICU II and III experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and administration of blood products
  • Experience with neonatal medications including anti-seizure meds, antibiotics, IV vasopressors, and surfactants
  • Competency in respiratory care including ventilator management, HFNC, bubble CPAP, and nitric oxide therapy
  • Experience with gastrointestinal, endocrine/metabolic, cardiovascular, and infectious disease patient care needs

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill neonates in a NICU II/III setting
  • Perform APGAR scoring, developmental care, and patient/family teaching
  • Manage complex neonatal conditions including NEC, gastroschisis/omphalocele, and neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Support respiratory needs through suctioning, oxygen delivery systems, and ventilator management
  • Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and VP shunt management
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible, with reduced eligibility distances for certain night shift specialties
