Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior Level III NICU experience on night shift.

Details

  • Level III/IV Neonatal ICU setting
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient ratio of 1:3
  • Required to work 3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
  • Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
  • Floating required within scope of practice as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active VA or Compact RN license required, pending license accepted (must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required (can be pending at submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Two professional references required
  • Skills required include neonatal ventilator management, UAC/UVC care, therapeutic hypothermia, central line care, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and neonatal dosage calculations

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including assisting with lumbar punctures, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and phlebotomy
  • Manage complex neonatal cases including post-abdominal surgery and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Administer IV vasopressors and other emergency medications as needed
  • Complete specialty-specific modules during orientation
  • Maximum 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, with no time off approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Previous UVA permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
  • First-time travelers not accepted for this position
