Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring NRP certification and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Level III/IV Neonatal ICU setting
• 13-week assignment on night shift (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted
• 1:3 patient ratio
• 3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period with every other holiday
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required, pending license accepted if in-hand by the Wednesday before start date
• BLS and NRP certifications required in-hand at time of consideration
• Dr. Brown's Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required, may be pending at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills required include neonatal dosage calculations, UAC/UVC management, high frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, therapeutic hypothermia, and IV/central line care
• Two professional references required
• Nursys verification required with consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal critical care including respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and neurologic support
• Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, and ventilator settings (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no time off approved during the first two weeks of assignment or Labor Day weekend
• Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding, recorded in Workday
• Previous permanent staff or internal travelers require 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
• First-time travelers not considered for this position
