Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a NICU position requiring NRP certification and 2+ years of NICU experience.

Details

  • NICU unit with Level II-IV capabilities caring for neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
  • Average daily census of 30 with a 1:3 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 1845-0715, with manager open to 3x12 or 4x12 schedules
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Floating required to Mother/Baby and Pediatrics units
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • No call-in requirement

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand upon consideration
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • AHA certifications required
  • 2 years of NICU experience required for previous travelers; 3 years required for first-time travelers
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, UAC/UVC, and neonatal medication administration
  • Skilled in neonatal assessment including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and developmental care
  • Experience with respiratory support including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, and oxygen delivery systems
  • Driver's license and NURSYS report required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal care including phlebotomy, feedings, and breastfeeding support
  • Manage respiratory distress syndrome, hyperbilirubinemia, and neonatal sepsis care
  • Support procedures such as lumbar puncture assistance and conscious sedation
  • May be assigned to an emergency response team during facility emergency events, requiring extended on-site presence
  • Must live more than 65 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • Holiday availability required for 2 of 4 designated holiday periods (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescindment
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply with required experience level
  • Former Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a 1-year separation before returning as travelers
  • Orientation held five days a week
