Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior ICU/preemie care experience.

Details

• Level 3 NICU with 60 total private rooms, expandable to 65 patients with 5 twin rooms, including 40 designated NICU rooms and 20 intermediate care rooms
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1-3 in NICU and 1:3-4 in NIC
• Patient population includes 22-week and up neonates with abdominal defects, pre-cardiac repair, PPHN, CDH, and other genetic defects
• RNs required to titrate drips per orders, including Fentanyl, Morphine, and Precedex
• Unit utilizes Conventional Vents, Oscillator Ventilator, JET ventilator, CPAP, Nasal IMV, Heated High Flow, and Tracheostomy support
• All patients monitored on Phillips monitors, no tele reading required
• EPIC EMR used
• 12-hour day shifts from 0700-1930, with self-scheduling and block scheduling allowed
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend (Sat/Sun) for day shift; night shift weekends are flexible based on facility needs
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• No current call or standby requirement
• Travelers float first, with potential assignments to PICU, PIC, Peds, Nursery, sitter duties, BHM, or adult units

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Level 3/4 ICU experience preferred
• Micro preemie care experience preferred
• Negative drug screen required for all panels as part of OSF's Drug-Free Campus policy

Additional Information

• Charge RN covers both NICU and NIC units, only taking patient assignments during staffing gaps, supported by a dedicated transport RN 24/7
• House supervisor available 24/7
• Neonatologist in house 24/7, supported by 2-3 APNs and resident/fellow coverage
• PCTs available on the unit with no specific ratio
• 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided, split between NIC and NICU
• No specific scrub color required, but fake nails, nail polish, and jewelry/watches are not permitted
