NICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate NICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Level III-IV Neonatal Intensive Care, providing critical care to our most vulnerable patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates, including those as premature as 22 weeks gestation.
• Manage patients with a variety of diagnoses, including Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), high-risk deliveries, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS).
• Administer respiratory support for mechanical ventilation, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), and manage tracheostomy care.
• Handle various feeding techniques including g-tubes and NG/OG tubes.
• Oversee central lines such as PICC, umbilical arterial catheters (UAC), and umbilical venous catheters (UVC).
• Develop and implement care plans for discharge to home, ensuring a safe transition for patients and families.
• Contribute positively to the team environment with a friendly and proactive attitude.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Level III-IV NICU setting.
• Current Washington State RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications are required.
• Experience with high-risk patients, including surgical cases and Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) is preferred.
• Previous travel nursing experience is favorable, though first-time travelers may be considered.

Work Environment

This position is part of a pediatric hospital that features a Level IV NICU with 70 dedicated beds. The census typically averages around 50 patients, ensuring a dynamic and engaging environment for nursing professionals. Our NICU includes private rooms and an overflow Level II nursery for feeders and growers.

Additional Information

• Shifts are from 0700-1930 or 1900-0730.
• Weekend rotation every other week, with occasional consecutive weekends.
• Floating to the Emergency Room as a sitter may occur, but is rare.
• Any scrub color is acceptable.
• Block scheduling may be possible but is not guaranteed.
