Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior Level 3/4 ICU or micro preemie care experience.

Details

  • Level 3 NICU with 60 total private rooms (40 NICU, 20 Intermediate), expandable to 65 beds with 5 twin rooms
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1-3 in NICU and 1:3-4 in Intermediate care
  • Patient population includes 22-week and up neonates, abdominal defects, pre-cardiac repair, PPHN, CDH, and other genetic defects
  • RNs required to titrate drips per orders, including Fentanyl, Morphine, and Precedex
  • Uses Conventional, Oscillator, and JET ventilators, CPAP, Nasal IMV, Heated High Flow, and Tracheostomy equipment
  • Philips monitors used for continuous patient monitoring (non-telemetry)
  • Charge RN and 24/7 free transport RN available, along with 24/7 house supervisor
  • Neonatologist in house 24/7 with 2-3 APNs and Resident/Fellow coverage
  • PCTs support the unit with no specific ratio
  • 12-hour day shifts (0700-1930) with self-scheduling and block scheduling available
  • EPIC EMR used for charting
  • Every other weekend required for dayshift (Sat/Sun)
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
  • No current call or standby requirement
  • Travelers float first, with potential assignments to PICU, PICU step-down, Peds, Nursery, sitter duties, BHM, or adult units

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license required, or confirmation that application process has been initiated
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Level 3/4 ICU experience preferred
  • Micro preemie care experience preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience beneficial
  • Negative drug screen required for all panels (OSF is a Drug-Free Campus)

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to critically ill neonates, including drip titration and ventilator management support
  • 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided (1 day in NIC, 1 day in NICU)
  • No specific scrub color required; no fake nails, nail polish, jewelry, or watches permitted
  • COVID vaccination not required for this facility
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are eligible for a reduced local pay rate
