NICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Level III NICU Travel Nursing Job in Columbus, Ohio
Travel NICU RN needed for a 13-week assignment caring for critically ill neonates in a Level III NICU in Columbus, Ohio. Make a meaningful impact as a Registered Nurse supporting infants from 22 weeks gestation and above, including patients requiring respiratory support, cardiovascular care, glucose management, surgery, or cardiac intervention. Travel Nursing Job Details

- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,160–$2,270
- Unit: Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Patient Population: Neonates, including infants less than 24–28 weeks gestation
- Typical Patient Ratio: Approximately 2–3 patients per nurse
- Daily Census: Approximately 30 patients
- Documentation: Epic
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Float Requirement: May float to other appropriate units within the healthcare system as needed
NICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a valid compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of recent NICU nursing experience; Level III or Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Experience caring for neonates with respiratory distress, glucose management needs, surgical conditions, and cardiac interventions
- Demonstrated competency with ventilator management, IV therapy, arterial lines, central lines, and umbilical artery and vein catheters
- Proficiency with neonatal medication administration, including vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
- Strong dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills
- Experience with neonatal feeding methods and oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
- Ability to provide compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity neonatal intensive care environment
NICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level III NICU
- Monitor and manage respiratory, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, metabolic, and infectious conditions
- Manage ventilator settings and provide care for patients receiving AC, PC, SIMV, CPAP, BiPAP, and PEEP therapies
- Administer medications safely using established protocols, including IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
- Perform arterial line management, central and implanted line care, and UAC/UVC management
- Support neonatal abstinence syndrome interventions and specialized developmental care
- Provide and monitor bottle, breast, gavage, oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal feedings
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in Epic and communicate changes using SBAR
- Apply infection prevention, isolation, and PPE protocols consistently
- Collaborate with advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, interpretation services, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team
