Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior NICU experience with neonates as young as 22 weeks gestation.

Details

  • Level III NICU setting caring for neonates from 22 weeks gestation and above, including those under 24-28 weeks
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Patient ratio of 1:2-3
  • Uses Pyxis medication system and EPIC documentation
  • Utilizes SBAR communication method with healthcare providers and families
  • Manages ventilator settings including AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP
  • Performs arterial line management, central line care, and UAC/UVC management
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team including NPs, pharmacy, PT, radiology, respiratory therapy, and social services

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of NICU experience required
  • Level III and Level IV NICU experience required
  • Competency in cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Skilled in gastrointestinal feeding methods and oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube management
  • Experience with IV therapy including umbilical artery and vein catheter management
  • Proficient in infection control measures and isolation precautions/PPE
  • Experience administering IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
  • Experience managing neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care to neonates with respiratory distress, glucose management issues, and those requiring surgical or cardiac interventions
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting as soon as possible after contract signing due to strict compliance timelines
  • Candidates currently outside Ohio but within driving distance will need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location promptly after booking
  • Candidates at extreme distances will be mailed a fingerprinting packet requiring urgent completion
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as travelers
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
