Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU/PICU RN for a Peds Float Pool position requiring a VA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of PICU experience.

Details

• Float pool role covering PICU, NICU, Peds Med-Surg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother-Baby units
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00), 36 or 48 hours per week
• 13-week assignment length
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Level III NICU setting
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before start)
• Minimum 2 years PICU experience required, with comfort in NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED settings
• BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• APHON, CPHON, and OCN certifications preferred
• Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may be pending at submission)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• BSN preferred
• Peds PACU experience highly preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Prior travel experience required, though candidates with NICU/PICU float pool experience will be considered

Additional Information

• Must float within scope of practice as needed per facility float policy
• Care for complex pediatric patients requiring skills such as ventilator management, CRRT, ECMO, and hemodynamic monitoring depending on unit assignment
• Maximum 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
• Previous UVA permanent staff or internal/external travelers must have at least 1 year of separation and leadership approval before returning
• External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
