Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring a WA or compact license and at least 3 years of Level III/IV NICU experience.

Details

  • Level III/IV NICU with a 77-bed unit and average census of 50
  • Cares for neonates ranging from <24 weeks to >34 weeks gestation
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Attends high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Block scheduling available for 3 or more consecutive shifts
  • Rarely required to float, but may float to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN or Pediatrics/NBN (newborn care only)
  • Dedicated Admit Nurse typically handles admissions, so travelers usually do not admit babies
  • Uses Epic EMR (preferred)

Requirements

  • Active WA state or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience or 2 years of Level IV NICU experience
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Experience with CPAP/BiPAP, high frequency vents, oscillators, and ventilators
  • Experience with blood/blood product administration
  • Experience with cardioversion/defibrillation
  • Experience with cooling/warming blankets
  • Experience with feeding tubes and PICC/central lines
  • Experience with syringe pumps
  • Skilled in IV therapy and central/implanted line care
  • Skilled in gastrointestinal feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) and oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube placement and management
  • Proficient in neonatal dosage calculations and administration of medications/emergency medications

Additional Information

  • Provides direct neonatal care in a high-acuity Level III/IV NICU setting
  • May occasionally float to sister facilities within the system, with refusal potentially resulting in termination of assignment
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Former Providence permanent employees must be separated from the health system for at least 3 months before returning as a travel RN
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate
  • Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years are required, which may include charge RNs or leads
  • First-time travelers are not considered for this position
