NICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced NICU Registered Nurse to join our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This position requires a strong background in neonatal care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

  • Level of NICU: Level III
  • Number of Beds: 22
  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 (4 for stable patients)
  • Common Diagnoses: RDS, SGA, prematurity, hypoglycemia, bilirubin, IUGR, and others
  • Equipment Used: Bubble CPAP, vents, central lines

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for neonates with a range of conditions, including those requiring intubation and bubble CPAP.
  • Attend deliveries for infants under 36 weeks to assist with APGAR scores.
  • Titrate medications and drips, including antibiotics, multivitamins, iron, surfactant, TPN, and epinephrine.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including neonatologists and nurse practitioners, to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Document patient care accurately using EPIC charting system.

Qualifications

  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience; Level III- IV experience preferred.
  • Ability to titrate drips and manage complex patient care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Active learner and team player with a focus on family-centered care.

Scheduling and Requirements

  • Shifts: Days (7a-7p) and Nights (7p-7a) with potential for rotating shifts.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or every third weekend.
  • Holiday Requirement: 2 holidays per year.
  • Will float to newborn nursery and pediatric units as needed.
