Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior NICU experience.

Details

  • 13-week assignment in the NICU
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15)
  • Average daily census of 30 with a 1:3 patient ratio
  • Floating required to Mother Baby and Pediatrics units
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • No call-in requirement
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Patient population includes neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
  • Cares for NICU II, III, and IV level patients as well as Mother/Baby and Pediatric patients when floated

Requirements

  • Active RN license, Louisiana or Compact, required in hand at time of submission
  • BLS and NRP certifications required (AHA certifications only)
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required for previous travelers
  • Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required for first-time travelers
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required

  • Up-to-date NURSYS report required with profile submission

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal nursing care including respiratory, cardiovascular, GI, neurologic, and infectious disease management
  • May be assigned to an emergency response team during facility emergency events, requiring staff to remain onsite or serve as part of a relief team
  • Orientation held five days a week
  • Two manager or supervisor references (charge RN references not accepted) required prior to starting the contract, though not required for initial submission
  • Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible for this travel position
  • RTO must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
  • First-time travelers will be considered if they meet the required experience threshold
  • Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full year separation from the health system before returning as a traveler
